Alex DeBrincat (born 18.12.1997) is an American ice hockey right winger. He has been playing his NHL career with the Chicago Blackhawks (2017 – today).

Early Career

Alex DeBrincat played with Erle Otters in Ontario Hockey League (OHL) three seasons. He signed with Otters on 29.4.2014 and his first season with team was 2014-15. He played great season with the Otters and was awarded OHL Rookie of the year and was named to the OHL First All-Rookie Team and the OHL Second All-Star Team. In the 2016-17 season, DeBrincat led OHL with 127 (65+62) points, and was awarded Red Tilson Trophy as the best player of the OHL. In the 2016 NHL Draft, Alex DeBrincat was selected 39th overall by Chicago Blackhawks.

Chicago Blackhawks

DeBrincat’s first NHL game with the Blackhawks was 5.10.2017 against Pittsburgh Penguins. DeBrincat’s debut season was successful – he made three hat tricks during the season and set new rookie record of the Blackhawks. He finished his debut season with 52 points and team-high 28 goals. After the season DeBrincat became the youngest Blackhawks “Player of the Year” award winner in history. Season 2018-19 continued to prove that DeBrincat is elite goal scorer. He played mostly in the Blackhawks’ second line and made 82 (41+35) points.

On 3.10.2019, DeBrincat signed a three-year contract extension with the Blackhawks. Regular season 2019-20 was little bit disappointment to DeBrincat as he made 45 (18+27) points at shortened 70 games season. DeBrincat is one of the key elements of the Blackhawks’ goal scoring in the future and next seasons will show his real potential.

International Play

Alex DeBrincat played with Team USA in the 2016 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships in Helsinki. Team USA and DeBrincat won bronze medals in that tournament. DeBrincat was also selected two times in the IIHF World Championships (2018 and 2019). Team USA and DeBrincat won bronze medals in 2018 World Championships – DeBrincat made 9 points in 10 games.
