Brian Elliott (born 9.4.1985) is a Canadian ice hockey goaltender. He has been playing in the NHL since 2007 with Ottawa Senators, Colorado Avalanche, St. Louis Blues, Calgary Flames and Philadelphia Flyers.

Early Career

Elliot played season 2002-03 in the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League with the Ajax Axemen. He played standout season and was drafted in the ninth round 291st overall, in the 2003 NHL Draft by Ottawa Senators. After Elliot was drafted, he spends four seasons with the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Elliot served as a backup goalie for his first two seasons after he secured the starting goaltender position in the 2005-06 season. On 23.3.2007, Elliott signed contract by the AHL’s Binghamton Senators (an affiliate of the Ottawa Senators) and played eight games with Binghamton near the end of the 2006-07 season.

Ottawa Senators

Elliott was invited to the Ottawa Senators’ 2007-08 training camp, but he was assigned to the Binghamton. He was recalled to Ottawa and on 10.10.2007, Elliott played his first NHL game and earned the win against Atlanta Thrashers. Elliott played with Binghamton 44 games in that season. Elliott started again season 2008-09 with Binghamton, but after being named AHL’s Goalie of the Month for December, Elliott was recalled by Ottawa on 9.1.2009. Elliott made immediate impact in Ottawa and never looked back.

Colorado Avalanche and St. Louis Blues

On 18.2.2011, Brian Elliott was traded to Colorado Avalanche as a part of Ottawa’s rebuilding process. After winning just two of his 12 starts with the Avalanche, Elliott was released as a free agent after Colorado declined his qualifying offer. On 1.7.2011, Elliott signed one-year contract with St. Louis Blues. After poor period with the Avalanche, Elliott was now much better and his GAA was 1.56 in season 2011-12. Elliott was chosen to participate in the 2012 NHL All-Star Game. On 18.1.2012, Elliott signed two-year contract extension with the Blues. After five solid seasons with the Blues, Elliott was traded to Calgary Flames during the 2016 NHL Draft.

Calgary Flames and Philadelphia Flyers

Elliott struggled with the Flames early in the 2016-17 season, and he lost his starting position to Chad Johnson. His numbers were poor in season 2016-17 (3.31 GAA and 88.5% SV%), and after season Elliott was informed that he will not be returning to the Flames for the 2017-18 season. On 1.7.2017, Elliott signed two-year contract with Philadelphia Flyers. Elliott has now played three seasons with the Flyers and on 3.10.2020, he signed one-year contract extension with the Flyers.
