Filip Zadina (born 27.11.1999) is a Czech ice hockey winger. He has been playing in the NHL since 2018 and he has played in the League with the Detroit Red Wings. Zadina started season 2020-21 with the HC Ocelan Trinec in the Czech Extraliga as a loan player from The Red Wings.

Early Career

Filip Zadina played his junior years in HC Pardubice. On 6.12.2015, Zadina made his Czech Extraliga debut, when HC Pardubice met HK Hradec Kralev – he was only 16 years and nine days old. Zadina continued to play with HC Pardubice on season 2016-17 – he played 27 games in Extraliga and made 4 (2+2) points.

In Summer 2017, Zadina was drafted to CHL by Halifax Mooseheads where Zadina played season 2017-18. Zadina played very good season overall and he made 82 (44+38) points on regular season and he was Mooseheads’ best goalscorer. He was selected to CHL’s First All-Star Team, All Rookie Team and he also won Mike Bossy Trophy as the best professional prospect. Filip Zadina was drafted 6th overall by Detroit Red Wings in 2018 NHL Draft.

Detroit Red Wings

On 7.7.2018, Zadina signed three-year entry-level contract with the Red Wings. Zadina attended the Red Wings’ training camp, but he started season 2018-19 in the AHL with the Grand Rapids Griffins.

On 24.2.2019, Zadina made his NHL debut against the San Jose Sharks. On 5.3.2018, Zadina scored his first NHL goal against the Colorado Avalanche. The story continued on season 2019-20 when Zadina still played with the Griffins. He also played 28 matches with the Red Wings and made total of 15 (8+7) points. On August 2020, the Red Wings loaned Zadina to the HC Ocelan Trinec in the Czech Extraliga, until the new NHL season starts (2020-21).

International Play

Filip Zadina played in 2016 and 2017 IIHF World U18 Championships. In 2016 Championships, he made 4 goals and was the best goal scorer for Team Czech. In 2017 Championships, he was once again the best point scorer for Team Czech with 6 (3+3) points.

Zadina played in 2018 and 2019 IIHF World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. In 2018 Championships, Zadina made seven goals and was the best goal scorer for Team Czech.
