Martin Necas (born 15.1.1999) is a Czech ice hockey center. He has been playing in the NHL since 2018 with the Carolina Hurricanes.

Early Career

Martin Nečas played his junior years in SKLH Žďár nad Sázavou and HC Kometa Brno. In season 2016-17, Nečas made his senior debut in the Czech Extraliga with HC Kometa Brno. He made total 19 (11+8) points in 51 games. Martin Nečas was drafted 12th overall by Carolina Hurricanes in the 2017 NHL Draft. On 15.7.2017, Nečas signed three-year entry-level contract with the Hurricanes. Nečas earned roster spot at the Hurricanes’ training camp and on 17.10.2017, Nečas played his first NHL game against Edmonton Oilers. It was only game that Nečas played in the NHL that season and five days after that game, he returned on loan in HC Kometa Brno. Nečas had 26 (13+13) points in 38 games with Brno and he helped HC Kometa Brno win the Czech Extraliga championship.

Carolina Hurricanes

In 2018-19 season, Martin Nečas started with the Hurricanes in NHL. On 16.10.2018, he scored his first career NHL goal against Tampa Bay Lightning. Nečas played seven games with the Hurricanes and after that he was assigned to AHL and Charlotte Checkers. He played 82 games with the Checkers and made 65 (21+44) points. In 2019-20 season, Nečas played whole season with the Hurricanes. He played total 72 games and made 40 (17+23) points.

International Play

Martin Nečas played in 2017 IIHF World U18 Championships. Nečas has been played three times in IIHF World Junior Ice Hockey Championships (2017, 2018 and 2019). In 2018 World Juniors, Nečas led whole tournament with 8 assists and tied for the scoring lead with 11 points. Martin Nečas has also been played once in IIHF World Championships (2018).
