Shea Theodore (born 3.8.1995) is a Canadian ice hockey defenseman. He has been playing in the NHL since 2015 and he has played with the Anaheim Ducks and the Vegas Golden Knights.

Early Career

After Shea Theodore have been played minor hockey, he was drafted in the third round of the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft, by the Seattle Thunderbirds in the WHL. Theodore played only four games with the Thunderbirds at season 2010-11 and spent majority of the season with Fraser Valley Bruins in British Columbia midget major league. Theodore played three full seasons with the Thunderbirds (2011-14). He was drafted 26th overall by Anaheim Ducks in 2013 NHL Draft and he signed three-year entry-level contract with Anaheim Ducks on 24.9.2013.

After WHL season 2013-14, Theodore was assigned to Ducks AHL affiliate, Norfolk Admirals – he played four playoff games with the Admirals. In season 2014, Theodore still played in WHL with the Thunderbirds and just like last season, he joined the Admirals in the AHL playoffs after the WHL season.

Anaheim Ducks

Shea Theodore started season 2015-16 with the Ducks AHL affiliate, San Diego Gulls. He made his NHL debut on 30.12.2015 against Calgary Flames. Next season (2016-17), Theodore started again in AHL and with the San Diego Gulls. Theodore jumped whole season between the Gulls and the Ducks and never get trust with the Duck management. On 21.6.2017, at the NHL Expansion Draft, Shea Theodore was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights.

Vegas Golden Knights

Theodore started season 2017-18 with the Golden Knights AHL affiliate, Chicago Wolves. On 30.10.2017, he made his Golden Knights debut. The Golden Knights played good season and they reached the 2018 Stanley Cup Finals. Theodore played good playoffs and made his breakthrough to the NHL – he averaged 21:37 minutes and made 10 (3+7) points in the playoffs. On 24.9.2018, Theodore signed seven-year contract extension with the Golden Knights. Before season 2019-20, Theodore underwent surgery to treat his testicular cancer, early detection of the cancer made the procedure routine for doctors and Theodore was allowed to play whole season, 2019-20. He made his new point record with 46 (13+33) points in regular season and 18 (7+11) in the NHL playoffs.

International Hockey

Shea Theodore represented Team Canada in the 2013 IIHF World U18 Championships – Team Canada and Theodore won gold medals. Theodore played 2015 in the IIHF World Junior Ice Hockey Championships and again Team Canada and Theodore won gold medals. Theodore has been played once in IIHF World Championships (2019) – Team Canada losing the final to Finland to finish with silver medals.
